THEORY INTO PRACTICE
Current Research
Current and convergent research in academia affirms the definition and position outlined elsewhere on this website.
At Kenneth Gordon School, our practice is aligned with results from extensive well-designed research studies. We constantly fine-tune our instructional strategies to incorporate new findings and apply state of the art technologies. While we believe that learning disabilities are lifelong, we are able to make accommodations in programming and teach our children specific skills and compensatory strategies to learn. Due to our success in research-based intervention, students’ level of academic achievement reflects their intellectual capacity. Simultaneously, we empower our students by developing understanding of their own abilities and learning styles so that they can advocate for themselves in any educational setting. It is only through self-advocacy that success can be ensured when they leave our school and enter into the next educational system.
