Message from the Head of School

I would like to welcome you to Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School, situated in its new location in a charming residential area across the street from Maplewood Farm -- just one minute from the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge in North Vancouver.

Kenneth Gordon is a fully accredited co-educational day school for students in grades 1-8. Following the BC curriculum, we offer unique instruction to maximize the potential of children who learn differently.

Our educators teach the way that your child can learn. While nurturing self-esteem and independence, our students are empowered to confidently meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Founded in Greater Vancouver in 1973, our mission is to provide a strong academic foundation and an emotionally supportive environment for the education of children with learning difficulties. While their potential is great, our students have all received a psychological assessment indicating a language based learning disability such as dyslexia.

Kenneth Gordon has earned a reputation for being a centre of excellence in successfully teaching children to help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in school and in life. Our highly credentialed and experienced faculty work together as a team to adapt the educational approach to the individual needs and learning styles of each student. Students work in a dynamic environment that includes whole class, small group and one to one instruction.

Each one of our students brings diverse talents, interests and goals to Kenneth Gordon and this is complemented by the positive energy and commitment of our teaching staff. As you walk through our halls and classrooms, you will not only witness the sights and sounds of learning but also the fun and excitement of a fully rounded educational program that includes art making, sports, theatre, music, physical education and structured play.

To be part of Kenneth Gordon is an opportunity that is life changing for students and their families. I welcome you to visit our school. You will be amazed at what you will see.

Looking forward,
John Wilson
Head of School
